Description

Nexium (Esomeprazole) is classified in the group of proton pump inhibitors and decreases the action and amount of acid in the stomach. It is used to treat the disease of GERD i.e. Gastroesophegeal reflux disease in which the acid from the stomach reverses and causes extreme heart burn leading to damage to the oesophagus. Hence the drug helps in the treatment of GERD, preventing the damaged and healing of the injured oesophagus.

Nexium (Esomeprazole) helps prevent the H.yplori bacteria to cause inflammation which may develop ulcers in the stomach. The drug is hence effective for the treatment of Zollinger Ellison Syndrome. It is a condition in which the stomach produces too much acid. The drug is also used to treat conditions of reflux esophogitis.
